Expectations for Club Leaders

Human Rights, Philanthropy and Service Clubs

It is our hope that our clubs that focus on rights, philanthropy and service will continue to be an integral part of the Pingree extracurricular experience. We also hope to further develop the leadership skills of those students who are at the helms of such groups. As such, we will be implementing the expectations and opportunities below starting in the 2016-2017 school year.

Students who wish to list club leadership on their school résumé and college applications must meet the following expectations:

Expectations and Opportunities for Leaders

·      Attend a bi-weekly meeting with fellow club leaders, supervised by Ms. McCoy. Topics and skills covered will include
o   Fundraising: Beyond Bake Sales
o   Public speaking and presentations
o   Managing meetings
o   Recruiting and retaining members
o   “To Hell with Good Intentions”: Ethics of Service
o   Writing about service, civic engagement and philanthropy for college
o   Publicity
o   Affecting legislative action

·      Write a mission statement for your club (to be worked on in one of the above mentioned meetings)

·      Hold biweekly or monthly (to be determined) meetings with club. Keep attendance and notes, communicate expectations, and engage membership with fundraising efforts and events.

·      Maintain a binder for club (to be discussed in more detail)

·      Maintain and update a page on the Pingree Service Blog
